Hello, Ladies!  I hope everyone is doing well and has either received your COVID vaccine or is scheduled to receive one soon.  I think this is a huge step towards us being able to travel again in the future.  Numbers are coming down across the US and I am so hopeful that the trend continues.  While we don’t know exactly what requirements will be needed for future travel, I suggest that you have your vaccination card laminated and stored with your passport in a safe place.  If it is needed, you’ll know right where it is.  Know that we will keep up to date with any travel restrictions required for any of our upcoming trips.

I have some sad news/good news to share with you.  For any of you who have traveled with us in the past, you know that we always requested the best bus driver, Randy.  The sad news for us is that he has retired from his job with Lamers and he and his wife have moved back to Michigan to be closer to his family.  I spoke to him before they left and he wanted me to be sure to tell you all how much he will miss the Lady Journey Seekers and will always remember all the fun we had on all of our many trips.  I had hoped that we could do at least one more bus trip with him so that we could make him an “honorary Lady Journey Seeker” but that was not to be.  I told him to think of us whenever he hears our theme song on the radio, “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!”  The good news is that he is elated to be able to spend time with his kids and especially his grandkids.  Good for him!

On a personal note, my little brother, Robert J. Steele, just published a book about our uncle, who was a crewmember on a B-24 bomber that was shot down in WWII over Germany in November, 1944.  All 10 crewmembers perished.  He has been working on this project, “The Last Flight of El Flako,” for over 20 years documenting the history of the crash and of each of the crewmembers.  He has connected with many of the surviving family members to share the research he uncovered.  The book culminates with the Steele Family History Tour that I took with my family in 2018 to visit the base in England where our uncle was stationed to the gravesite in Belgium where he and some of the other crewmembers are buried.  If you or any of your family members are WWII buffs, please take a look.  My heart is filled with pride that he did such a wonderful job of preserving the memory of these brave men.  The book is available on Amazon.

As I write this update, I see that March 8th was International Women’s Day.  I would like to take a moment to say thank you to all of you.  You are an amazing and incredible group of women and it is a privilege to know and travel with you.  I’m always amazed to hear your history and how you have survived the many challenges that you have endured along the way.  We have earned the right to be happy and fulfill our dreams.  Ladies, let’s carry on and enjoy life to its fullest!  Take care and until we meet again, I send virtual hugs to all!
